EXPLORING THE WORLD OF ELDEN RING… AND BEYOND

The Magma Hunter Challenge

Tarnished! Looking to breathe new fire into your Elden Ring experience? The Magma Hunter Challenge calls to those who seek to master the arts of dragon-slaying with a distinctly Caelid flavor.

Deep within the scarlet rot-infested lands of Caelid lie weapons of terrible power. Meanwhile, across the Lands Between, ancient Magma Wyrms slumber and rage. Your task is simple yet daunting: claim a weapon from the crimson wastes, then use it and it alone to hunt down every last Magma Wyrm that plagues this shattered realm.

From the humid tunnels of Limgrave to the frozen fields of the Consecrated Snowfield, these molten beasts await a worthy challenger. Will you answer the call? Can you master a single Caelid armament well enough to extinguish the flames of these ancient dragons?

The road is long. The challenge, severe. But for those with the skill and determination, the title of Magma Hunter awaits.

Objective

Defeat all Magma Wyrms in the base game, including Great Wyrm Theodorix, using only a single weapon obtained in Caelid.

Challenge Rules

  1. You must obtain your chosen weapon from Caelid before defeating any Magma Wyrms (excludes Moonveil, which is obtained from the Gael Tunnel Magma Wyrm)
  2. Once you have obtained and used a Caelid weapon, no weapon switching is allowed for the remainder of the challenge
  3. You can use your starter class weapon to obtain your Caelid weapon and to fight bosses until you have used your Caelid weapon for the first time
  4. You cannot defeat any Magma Wyrm with a non-Caelid weapon
  5. You can use any armor, talismans, and spells/incantations during the fights

Challenge Variations

  • Caelid Arsenal: You may switch freely between any weapons obtained in Caelid, including using combinations of weapons and casting tools.
  • Wyrm’s Bane: Allows the usage of the Moonveil Katana or Magma Wyrm’s Scalesword after you have defeated the respective Magma Wyrm with a Caelid weapon.
  • Shadow Hunter: Additionally defeat the Magma Wyrm in Dragon’s Pit from the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC. This requires defeating both Mohg and Radahn to access the DLC area while still adhering to all challenge rules
  • True Magma Hunter: Defeat all wyrms without using summons
  • Caelid Loyalist: Complete the entire challenge using only Caelid armor sets (like Radahn’s set)
  • Scorched Earth: Defeat all wyrms without using any healing flasks
  • Weapon Commitment: After obtaining your Caelid weapon, use it exclusively for the Magma Wyrm fights
