Fellow Tarnished, the servers are back online after today’s maintenance! FromSoftware has just deployed Patch 1.01.1 for Elden Ring: Nightreign, and this update brings some welcome surprises that many of you have been waiting for.

What We Expected vs. What We Got
Originally, we expected these major solo improvements to arrive with patch 1.02, but FromSoftware has surprised us by delivering them early with version 1.01.1 instead. This shows the developer’s commitment to addressing player feedback quickly after the game’s launch just days ago.
Key Changes in Patch 1.01.1
The most significant improvements in this patch focus on making solo expeditions more manageable:
Solo Expedition Improvements:
- Automatic Revival Upon Defeat – You now get one free revival per night boss battle when playing solo, similar to the resurrection mechanic in Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice
- Increased Rune Rewards – The amount of runes you earn during solo expeditions has been boosted
General Improvements:
- Enhanced High-Rarity Relic Drops – You’ll find more high-rarity Relics when reaching Day 3 during Expeditions
- Better Bazaar Rewards – Higher probability of obtaining rare Relics from Scenic Flat stones at the Small Jar Bazaar
- Camera Fix – Adjusted camera behavior when activating the Guardian’s Ultimate Art “Wings of Salvation”
Bug Fixes & Technical Improvements: This patch also addressed various technical issues including gameplay stability improvements, character handling refinements, and general bug fixes. While FromSoftware kept the specific details minimal (as is typical for their patch notes), the update aims to improve overall game performance and resolve various technical hiccups players encountered during the launch window.
Maintenance Details
The maintenance window ran for exactly three hours across all platforms:
- Start Time: 1:00 AM PDT / 4:00 AM EDT / 10:00 AM CEST / 5:00 PM JST
- End Time: 4:00 AM PDT / 7:00 AM EDT / 1:00 PM CEST / 8:00 PM JST
Version Numbers Explained
After installing this update, you’ll see:
- App Version: 1.01
- Regulation Version: 1.01.2
FromSoftware uses “regulation files” for balance data, enemy stats, and configuration files that can be updated separately from the main game executable.
What’s Coming Next
While patch 1.01.1 delivered the solo improvements early, FromSoftware has confirmed that Patch 1.02 is still planned for release sometime this week. This upcoming update will focus on additional bug fixes and further refinements to the game experience.
Why These Changes Matter
Since Nightreign launched with a multiplayer focus, many solo players found the experience brutally difficult – even by FromSoftware standards. The addition of automatic revival and increased rune rewards should make solo expeditions much more approachable without completely removing the challenge that defines the Souls experience.
The game has already proven successful, surpassing 2 million sales at launch and hitting over 300,000 concurrent players on Steam within hours of release. However, with mixed reviews pointing to difficulty balance issues, these rapid updates show FromSoftware is listening to community feedback.
