Tarnished warriors, the moment we’ve all been waiting for is almost here! FromSoftware has revealed the official global release times for Elden Ring: Nightreign, and I’m here to break down exactly when you can dive into this standalone co-op adventure in your region.

Mark Your Calendars: May 29-30, 2025
The Elden Ring Nightreign release date is Thursday, May 29, 2025. It launches on May 29 at 3pm PDT / 6pm EDT / 11pm BST, and May 30 at 12am CEST / 8am AEST for PC players. Console players will need to wait just a bit longer, with most regions getting access at local midnight on May 30th.
PC Gets Early Access
One of the most exciting revelations is that PC players will get to start their journey into Limveld several hours before console players in most regions. These release times are for the PC version only. This gives Steam players a significant head start to master the game’s mechanics before console players join the fray.

Preload Information: Get Ready 48 Hours Early
Preload will be available 48 hours before your local launch time on PlayStation, Xbox, and Steam. This means you can download and install the entire game two full days before launch, ensuring you’re ready to jump in the moment Nightreign goes live in your region.
For most regions, this means preloading begins on May 27th for console players and varies for PC players depending on their specific launch time.
Breaking FromSoftware Tradition
What makes this release particularly remarkable is how quickly it’s arriving. Elden Ring Nightreign is releasing just five months and 18 days after its initial announcement during the 2024 Game Awards. This breaks FromSoftware’s usual pattern of much longer development cycles between announcement and release.
This is significant as it is the first game in FromSoftware’s history to get such a quick turnaround, at least from announcement to release date. For context, the original Elden Ring took nearly three years from announcement to release, while Shadow of the Erdtree took over a year.
What to Expect in Nightreign
Elden Ring Nightreign is a three-player co-op game, a standalone spin-off adventure set in a universe parallel to the events of Elden Ring. The game takes place in Limveld, a procedurally generated version of Limgrave that offers a completely different experience from the base game.
Key Features:
- Three-day survival cycles with escalating difficulty
- Eight unique Nightfarers to choose from, each with distinct abilities
- No character creation – instead, you select from pre-made classes
- Battle royale elements with a shrinking play area called the Night’s Tide
- Roguelike progression where each run feels different
- Solo or co-op play (though the game is designed for three players)
The reprise of Dark Souls 3’s Nameless King will be the most exciting reveal for FromSoftware fans, bringing back one of the most challenging bosses from the developer’s catalog.
Platform Availability
Elden Ring Nightreign is set to land on PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X, and Xbox One when it releases on May 30 this year. Notably, there’s no Nintendo Switch version, and it’s unfortunately been confirmed that there will be no Elden Ring Nightreign cross-play support.
The great news is that you won’t need to own a copy of Elden Ring to access this cooperative experience with your friends, as it is a standalone adventure.
Getting Ready for Launch
With launch just days away, now’s the perfect time to:
- Pre-order your preferred edition (Standard, Deluxe, or Collector’s Edition)
- Set up your preload 48 hours before your region’s launch time
- Gather your squad – remember, this game shines with three-player co-op
- Study the Nightfarers to decide which class suits your playstyle
The return to the Lands Between in this twisted, co-op format promises to be unlike anything FromSoftware has created before. With its unique blend of souls-like combat, roguelike progression, and battle royale mechanics, Nightreign could very well redefine what we expect from multiplayer FromSoftware experiences.
Are you ready to answer the call when night falls? The realm of Limveld awaits, and the Nightlord grows stronger with each passing moment.
