EXPLORING THE WORLD OF ELDEN RING… AND BEYOND

New Everdark Sovereigns Hit Elden Ring Nightreign

Well, fellow Nightfarers, it looks like FromSoftware heard your cries of “this isn’t hard enough” and decided to answer with pure nightmare fuel. The Everdark Sovereigns have officially emerged from the depths of the night, and if you thought regular Nightlords were giving you trouble, you’re in for a rude awakening.

What Are These Monsters?

Think of Everdark Sovereigns as the ultimate “hard mode” versions of your favorite bosses to hate. These aren’t just stat-boosted versions either โ€“ these limited-time versions of the Nightlords are extremely challenging and pose an even greater threat to the Nightfarers with new moves and increased power.

Here’s how it works: every week, a new Everdark Sovereign will arrive in Limveld, and when this time is up, the Sovereign will disappear from the available Expeditionsโ€ฆ for now. That cryptic “for now” suggests these nightmares will cycle back around eventually.

The Current Nightmare: Adel, Baron of the Night

The First Everdark Sovereign, an enhanced version of Adel, Baron of the Night (Gaping Jaw) is now available from June 19th to 26th. And let me tell you, this isn’t your garden-variety difficulty spike.

Players are already reporting that the Everdark Sovereign has moves that use massive tornadoes that can affect nearly the entire arena, making it nearly impossible to dodge. The community consensus? Players are claiming that this is one of the most difficult bosses that’s currently in Nightreign.

What makes this fight particularly brutal is that you’ll immediately be met with its second phase form right from the start, and removing half of Adel’s HP will trigger its third phase. One player aptly described the experience as having “4 grab attacks that almost install kill you in a row, no visual clarity, bloated HP pool – a true Elden Ring boss.”

The Rollout Schedule

Coming up in the next few weeks, you can expect enhanced versions of:

  • Gaping Jaw, Sentient Pest and Darkdrift Knight
  • Later additions: Tricephalos, Augur, Equilibrious Beast and Fissure in the Fog

The Rewards (If You Survive)

If you can actually defeat these monstrosities, you’ll earn Sovereign Sigils as a reward โ€” unique tokens that can be exchanged for special Relics and other items. These can be spent at the new Collector Signboard located in the Roundtable Hold for valuable Chalices and Relics.

Technical Updates Alongside the Chaos

Coinciding with this content drop, FromSoftware released patch 1.01.3, which addresses several issues including a bug causing the game to freeze in some environments and higher chances of obtaining Elden Ring Nightreign’s weapons with the madness status ailment.

The Catch (Because There’s Always One)

Here’s the fine print that’ll make solo players weep: Everdark Sovereign is available for online mode only. So if you’ve been stubbornly playing offline, you’ll need to connect to the servers to face these enhanced terrors.

Final Thoughts

FromSoftware’s message to players is crystal clear: “Steel yourselves, Nightfarers. The Night is far from over.” With reports that the Everdark Sovereign version of Adel requires optimized survivability affixes and relics and tactics similar to “Prime Consort Radahn from Shadow of the Erdtree,” you know you’re in for a world of pain.

The cyclical nature of these events means you won’t permanently miss out on rewards if you can’t tackle them during their initial appearance, but those first-time completion bonuses provide extra incentive to face each Sovereign during their debut week.

Whether this addition revitalizes the player base or sends more people running for refunds remains to be seen. But one thing’s certain โ€“ if you thought you had mastered Nightreign’s challenges, think again. The developers have just raised the bar to atmospheric heights, and they’re daring you to reach it.

Good luck out there, Nightfarers. You’re going to need it – and donโ€™t forget to check out our otherย Nightreign articlesย as well!
