If you can’t help, but feel the inner urge (like me) to collect all the armor sets from the Elden Ring DLC Shadow of the Erdtree, you’ve surely encountered the Divine Beast Set. You can farm this set by defeating a Divine Beast Warrior in Enir-Ilim. It consists of only two pieces: the helm and the chest armor. The helm should not be confused with the Divine Beast Head, which you get after defeating – yes, you guessed right – the Divine Beast at Belurat Tower. It’s actually a smaller version of the latter. This helm still gives you a +3 boost in both strength and dexterity, with the downside of reducing the effect of sacred tears by 9% and your focus by 45 points (for detailed information about the armor pieces you can check out Fextralife).

I have to admit that these smaller, but rather tanky enemies occasionally give me really hard times and initially the Divine Beast Warrior was quite a pain in the a.. – back end. The worst thing are his four successive hits, where it is (at least for me) impossible to interrupt this attack pattern. Instead I get stance broken and knocked down, whenever I’m not able to somehow dodge the first strike. I know, trading damage is not always a good idea…
The Weapon Of Choice
After experimenting with various weapons, I ultimately settled on the Staff of the Avatar from the base game, which provided consistent results. The weapon skill of this staff is the Erdtree Slam, a powerful ability where you leap into the air and crash down onto the ground in front of you. This impact sends golden shockwaves radiating in all directions, dealing Holy damage to enemies caught in its range.
Location
Best farming spot? From the Spiral Rise site of grace in Enir-Ilim you can simply run outside and down the stairs (past some enemies) until you reach the Divine Beast Warrior. However, you will get under heavy holy fire from an enemy sitting on the roof above the exit. Therefore, you better climb up the stairs inside the tower, jump outside the window and backstab the guy. Then drop down and kill the second enemy, who is waiting outside the tower. Now follow the stairs downwards to backstab a third enemy and get ready (if you want, buff up) to approach the Divine Beast Warrior. This method gives you an additional chance at scoring some sweet somber smithing stones in the 7 to 9 range.
By the way, there are further Divine Beast Warriors in Enir-Ilim, who use frost bite or storm instead of lightning for their AoE attack and are a little more difficult to reach, so that’s why we concentrate on the one near the Spiral Rise site of grace.
The Strategy
Rush towards the enemy once he has spotted you – if you hesitate or move too slowly, he might hit you with his large AoE lightning attack. As he raises his sword, use the weapon skill (L2/LT). With proper timing, you’ll inflict significant damage when crashing down, while the Divine Beast Warrior’s first horizontal strike harmlessly passes over your head.
This creates an opportunity to stagger him with two light attacks (R1/RB), setting you up for an easy finish. Curiously, using a backstab to defeat the Divine Beast Warrior doesn’t yield any runes or allow for item collection – possibly a bug. Have you encountered this issue? Instead, use two more light attacks (R1/RB) to end the fight and hope for a lucky item drop.
Since pictures, especially the moving ones, deal way more information than words, I have made a short video to show the above described procedure – the fight looks so easy, when everything comes together.
Don’t forget to equip the Silver Scarab talisman or a Silver-Pickled Fowl Foot and put on the Silver Tear Mask to raise your item discovery. Yet, it took me way more than one hour till both items dropped – but I also earned a nice collection of somber smithing stones for my effort.
Was this information helpful or was the Divine Beast Warrior just a piece of cake for you? How did you do it? Let me know in the comments below, if you like.
